The 2012 doomsday became one of the most controversial subjects of the XXI century. The Internet is saturated with thousands of catastrophic predictions and apocalyptic prophecies.  Some proponents of 2012 suggest that instead of end of life we will experience a shift in our collective consciousness level… Many religions state that the end of time is to arrive soon. The Apocalypse in the Bible describes the time of utter chaos and destruction. From natural disasters to the final battle between good and evil (Armageddon), the end of the world is supposed to be near…  Is it all bullshit and hype? 1. Ancient Records of Global Catastrophes

The Bible talks about destruction of life by the Great Flood

A flood myth or deluge myth is a mythical or religious story of a great flood sent by a deity or deities to destroy civilization as an act of divine retribution. It is a theme widespread among many cultures, though it is perhaps best known in modern times through the biblical and Quranic account of Noah’s Ark, the foundational myths of the Quiché and Mayas, through Deucalion in Greek mythology, the Utnapishtim in the Epic of Gilgamesh or the Hindu puranic story of Manu which has some very strong parallels with the story of Noah.

Now this has the form of a myth, but really signifies a declination of the bodies moving in the heavens around the earth, and a great conflagration of things upon the earth, which recurs after long intervals; at such times those who live upon the mountains and in dry and lofty places are more liable to destruction than those who dwell by rivers or on the seashore. The Popol Vuh

Sudden Global Climate Change

The level of oceans could raise  by many meters if  the average temperature of the planet increased by just few degrees.  Such an increase could be triggered by exceptionally high solar radiation or volcanic activity (or another cyclical event affecting  global climate change). However, this could not happen due to increased CO2 levels in our atmosphere — as suggested by corrupted science of Al Gore movie “An Inconvenient Truth“. It should also be noted that any natural cause for the flood must be relatively short-lived. In order for the larger animals and humans to survive, the area where they landed should return to near normal in just a few seasons. The Biblical chronology requires the heavy rains to stop after 40 days and for land to become dry enough for the occupants of the ark to emerge after 1 year and 17 days. After 11 months and 18 days plant growth has to have reappeared when the dove returned with a plucked leaf. And within a short time Noah was able to plant and harvest a vineyard. If the ocean waters were heated considerably due to subsurface volcanic activity along the mid-ocean ridges as proposed, it would take a relatively long time for ocean cooling back to near normal, possibly as long as 500 years or more.

A Near Collision encounter with a planetoid or asteroid

A “near collision” passage of  a  large planetoid or asteroid could induce huge tides.  Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the moon and the sun and the rotation of the Earth. Gigantic Tsunami

Incredibly huge earthquakes and/or sudden “tectonic plate shift” could trigger tremendous Tsunami waves. A possible massive earthquake in Tokyo, San Francisco, or Los Angeles. Such a quake could cause on the order of a trillion dollars in damage and could trigger a worldwide depression. In the worst case this would set back human progress by decades.

Impact with an Ice Comet

Another proposed possibility is the impact with an ice comet or with a swarm of small ice comets over a few days time period. Quite possibly the Earth in its orbit could have enter a band of small ice comets which showerd the Earth with a considerable amount of water in a few days time period. Or also there is the possibility of the Earth orbit encountering the remains of a large comet that was broken up by impacts or encounters with the outer planets or their gravitational forces, or a comet broken up by the heating effects of our Sun.

A Comet “Noah” Scenario

Kuiper Belt item Noah (KBNoah) leaves the belt possibly due to an encounter with another Kuiper Belt item or an encounter with planet Pluto
Breakup begins as ComeT Noah (CTNoah) nears the orbit of the inner planets due to planet gravitational pull and heating effects of the Sun. There is also the possibility of asteroid impacts. Its comet-type orbit is deflected by the effects of the gravitational pull of the inner planets.

CTNoah comes under the attraction of Earth’s gravity and as it enters the exosphere break up accelerates due to higher gravitational effects and as heating starts due to friction of the Earth’s atmosphere. A major portion of the ice evaporates as friction heat increases and becomes the heavy rains. That portion that does not evaporate, both of the ice and the solid material, impacts with the Earth’s surface. A majority portion cleaves the surface of the seas and causes massive disturbances to the seas and tidal waves that run onto the land. That portion that impacts with the land causes surface disturbances, but the effect of fragments and dust being kicked up into the atmosphere is mitigated by the heavy rain, as compared to the what would happen with a dry asteroid impact. Impact craters are then heavily eroded by the rain and run off. After 40 days the effects of CTNoah are ended.

Aftereffects: The sea levels have raised considerably submersing a large portion of the seashores including much of the then-populated lands. The heavy rains and runoff have heavily eroded the highest mountains and highlands, forming new canyons and rivers. There is considerable floating debris on the surface of the waters in and on which the small animal and insect life survive. With time, runoff and erosion continues; and the seas slowly settle down. The pressures of the additional water cause Earthquakes and movements of the surface and sea bottoms resulting in both sinking and rising of land surfaces. The atmosphere starts to clear and the aftereffect rains lessen and the sea surface temperatures start to return to normal. Growth starts again from roots and seeds that remain on or near the land surface. The impact on Earth of an asteroid or comet only a few miles across would have devastating blast, tidal wave, incendiary, and smoke clounds effects. In particular, the global pall of smoke raised by such an impact could block enough sunlight to effectively cancel one or two agricultural seasons and starve billions of humans to death. Such a catastrophe would set back human progress by one or two centuries. The probability of such an impact is extremely low, only happening every few hundred thousand years.

Less probable by far is impact with or orbital disruption by a massive planet (or a small black hole) that might wander through the Solar system.  Disruption of the Earth’s orbit could cause a biosphere-destroying runaway greenhouse effect like on Venus.

Even a slight increase in the eccentricity of Earth’s orbit would cause ecological disruptions that would probably starve billions of humans.

Ejection of Earth from the Solar system would in a matter of months freeze to death all terrestrial life (except perhaps ecosystems around volcanic vents at the bottoms of frozen oceans). 2.2  Fire from the Sky

The asteroid belt is the region of the Solar System located roughly between the orbits of the planets Mars and Jupiter. It is occupied by numerous irregularly shaped bodies called asteroids or minor planets. The asteroid belt region is also termed the main belt to distinguish it from other concentrations of minor planets within the Solar System, such as the Kuiper belt and scattered disc.

Asteroids’ orbits continue to be appreciably perturbed whenever their period of revolution about the Sun forms an orbital resonance with Jupiter. At these orbital distances, a Kirkwood gap occurs as they are swept into other orbits. Some fragments can eventually find their way into the inner Solar System, leading to meteorite impacts with the inner planets.

The high population of the main belt makes for a very active environment, where collisions between asteroids occur frequently (on astronomical time scales). Collisions between main belt bodies with a mean radius of 10 km are expected to occur about once every 10 million years. A collision may fragment an asteroid into numerous smaller pieces (leading to the formation of a new asteroid family).

Craters – the evidence of intensive “bombardment” of the planets and moons of the solar system

Some of the debris from collisions can form meteoroids that enter the Earth’s atmosphere. More than 99.8 percent of the 30,000 meteorites found on Earth to date are believed to have originated in the asteroid belt.

A September 2007 study by a joint US-Czech team has suggested that a large-body collision undergone by the asteroid 298 Baptistina sent a number of fragments into the inner solar system. The impacts of these fragments are believed to have created both the Tycho crater on the Moon and the Chicxulub crater in Mexico, the remnant of the massive impact which triggered the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

Virtually all planetary surfaces are cratered from the impact of interplanetary bodies. It is now clear from planetary bodies that have retained portions of their earliest surfaces that impact was a dominant geologic process throughout the early solar system. For example, the oldest lunar surfaces are literally saturated with impact craters, produced by an intense bombardment which lasted from 4.6 to approximately 3.9 billion years ago, at least a 100 times higher than the present impact flux.

Impact craters are geologic structures formed when a large meteoroid, asteroid or comet smashes into a planet or a satellite. All the inner bodies in our solar system have been heavily bombarded by meteoroids throughout their history. The surfaces the Moon, Mars and Mercury, where other geologic processes stopped millions of years ago record this bombardment clearly. Below are few examples:

Mars

The image below shows the striking Maunder crater lying at approximately 50° South and 2° East, in the Noachis Terra region on Mars. With a diameter of 90 kilometers and a depth of barely 900 meters, the crater is not one of the largest impact craters on Mars at present, but it used to be much deeper. It has since been filled partially with large amounts of material.

What is the chance of an asteroid hitting Earth and how do astronomers calculate it?

On March 3, 2009 an asteroid about the size of one that blasted Siberia a century ago just buzzed the Earth. The asteroid named 2009 DD45 was about 48,800 miles from Earth when it zipped past early Monday, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory reported. That is just twice as high as the orbits of some telecommunications satellites and about a fifth of the distance to the Moon. “This was pretty darn close,” astronomer Timothy Spahr of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics said Wednesday. But not as close as the tiny meteoroid 2004 FU162, which came within 4,000 miles in 2004. The space rock measured between 69 feet and 154 feet in diameter. The Planetary Society said that made it about the same size as the asteroid that exploded over Siberia in 1908 and leveled more than 800 square miles of forest.

Perry A. Gerakines, an assistant professor in the department of physics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, explains.

We have extensive evidence that Earth has already been hit by asteroids many times throughout history – the most famous (or infamous) example is probably the asteroid or comet that created the Chicxulub crater in the Gulf of Mexico and may have contributed to the extinction of the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous Period 65 million years ago.
A more recent but less devastating example, called the Tunguska Event, occurred in 1908, when a meteor or comet exploded over the wilderness of Siberia, damaging farmland and leveling trees for miles around. Because most of the earth is covered by oceans, there may also be many small impacts that go unnoticed.

There are thousands of small bodies that we call asteroids or meteoroids in orbit around the sun. Many of these objects are called near-Earth asteroids (or NEAs) because they have orbits that repeatedly bring them close to, or intersect with, Earth’s orbit.

Although the odds of any one particular asteroid ever impacting Earth are quite low, it is still likely that one day our planet will be hit by another asteroid. At the current rate of impacts, we would expect about one large asteroid to impact Earth every 100 million years or so. For that reason several programs, such as the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) project at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, have been undertaken around the world to discover and monitor potentially Earth-threatening asteroids.

2.3  Earth Crust Displacement

Researchers at the California Institute of Technology think they have solved part of the mystery of the “evolutionary big bang” that occurred half a billion years ago. At that time, life on Earth underwent a profound diversification that saw the first appearance in the fossil record of virtually all animal phyla living today. With relative evolutionary rates of more than 20 times normal, nothing like it has occurred since. In a paper published in the July 25th issue of Science, the Caltech group reports that this evolutionary burst coincides with another apparently unique event in earth history–a 90-degree change in the direction of Earth’s spin axis relative to the continents. Dr. Joseph Kirschvink, a geologist at Caltech and lead author of the study, speculates that a major reorganization of tectonic plates during latest Precambrian time changed the balance of mass within the Earth, triggering the reorientation. Thus, the regions that were previously at the north and south poles were relocated to the equator, and two antipodal points near the equator became the new poles.

In fact, geophysicists have known for over half a century that the solid, elastic part of a planet can move rapidly with respect to its spin axis through a process known as “true polar wander.” True polar wander, Kirschvink explains, is not the same as the more familiar plate motion that is responsible for earthquakes and volcanism. While the latter is driven by heat convection in Earth’s mantle, true polar wander is caused by an imbalance in the mass distribution of the planet itself, which the laws of physics force to equalize in comparatively rapid time scales.

During this redistribution, the entire solid part of the planet moves together, avoiding the internal shearing effects which impose the speed limit on conventional plate motions. (While his happens, of course, the entire Earth maintains the original spin axis in relation to plane of the solar system.) Thus, true polar wander can result in land masses moving at rates hundreds of times faster than tectonic motion caused by convection.

Geological samples collected by the Caltech group in Australia (which has some of the best-preserved sediments of this age from all of Gondwanaland) demonstrate that this entire continent rotated counterclockwise by nearly 90 degrees, starting at about 534 million years ago (coincident with onset of the major radiation event in the Early Cambrian), and was finished sometime during Middle Cambrian time.

2.4  Magnetic Poles Reversal

Magnetic Field Reversal. Earth’s magnetic field reverses polarity every few hundred thousand years, and is almost non-existent for perhaps a century during the transition. The last reversal was 780,000 years ago, and the magnetic field’s strength decreased 5% during the 20th century. During the next reversal the ozone layer will be unprotected from charged solar particles that could weaken its ability to protect humans from ultraviolet radiation. However, past reversals are not associated with any changes or extinctions in the fossil record, and the next reversal will not likely affect humanity in a catastrophic way.

The Earth’s magnetic field is shaped roughly as a magnetic dipole, with the poles currently located proximate to the planet’s geographic poles. At the equator of the magnetic field, the magnetic field strength at the planet’s surface is 3.05 × 10?5 T, with global magnetic dipole moment of 7.91 × 1015 T m3. According to dynamo theory, the field is generated within the molten outer core region where heat creates convection motions of conducting materials, generating electric currents. These in turn produce the Earth’s magnetic field. The convection movements in the core are chaotic; the magnetic poles drift and periodically change alignment. This results in field reversals at irregular intervals averaging a few times every million years. The most recent reversal occurred approximately 780,000 years ago.

The field forms the magnetosphere, which deflects particles in the solar wind. The sunward edge of the bow shock is located at about 13 times the radius of the Earth. The collision between the magnetic field and the solar wind forms the Van Allen radiation belts, a pair of concentric, torus-shaped regions of energetic charged particles. When the plasma enters the Earth’s atmosphere at the magnetic poles, it forms the aurora.

Earth’s magnetic field protects life on Earth by holding the solar radiation at bay. Disappearance of the magnetic shield around our planet (during magnetic poles reversal) would expose life to severe radiation. It would also cause serious disruption of our electronic technology with tremendous impact on.

Over the last few decades, western civilizations have busily sown the seeds of their own destruction. It happened before: Carrington Event

The most serious space weather event in recent history happened in 1859. It is known as the Carrington event, after the British amateur astronomer Richard Carrington, who was the first to note its cause: “two patches of intensely bright and white light” emanating from a large group of sunspots. The Carrington event comprised eight days of severe space weather. There were eyewitness accounts of stunning auroras, even at equatorial latitudes. The world’s telegraph networks experienced severe disruptions, and Victorian magnetometers were driven off the scale.

“What Carrington saw was a white-light solar flare—a magnetic explosion on the sun,” explains David Hathaway, solar physics team lead at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Now we know that solar flares happen frequently, especially during solar sunspot maximum. Most betray their existence by releasing X-rays (recorded by X-ray telescopes in space) and radio noise (recorded by radio telescopes in space and on Earth). In Carrington’s day, however, there were no X-ray satellites or radio telescopes. No one knew flares existed until that September morning when one super-flare produced enough light to rival the brightness of the sun itself.

“It’s rare that one can actually see the brightening of the solar surface,” says Hathaway. “It takes a lot of energy to heat up the surface of the sun!”

The explosion produced not only a surge of visible light but also a mammoth cloud of charged particles and detached magnetic loops—a “CME”—and hurled that cloud directly toward Earth. The next morning when the CME arrived, it crashed into Earth’s magnetic field, causing the global bubble of magnetism that surrounds our planet to shake and quiver. Researchers call this a “geomagnetic storm.” Rapidly moving fields induced enormous electric currents that surged through telegraph lines and disrupted communications.

“More than 35 years ago, I began drawing the attention of the space physics community to the 1859 flare and its impact on telecommunications,” says Louis J. Lanzerotti, retired Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories and current editor of the journal Space Weather. He became aware of the effects of solar geomagnetic storms on terrestrial communications when a huge solar flare on August 4, 1972, knocked out long-distance telephone communication across Illinois. That event, in fact, caused AT&T to redesign its power system for transatlantic cables. A similar flare on March 13, 1989, provoked geomagnetic storms that disrupted electric power transmission from the Hydro Québec generating station in Canada, blacking out most of the province and plunging 6 million people into darkness for 9 hours; aurora-induced power surges even melted power transformers in New Jersey. In December 2005, X-rays from another solar storm disrupted satellite-to-ground communications and Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation signals for about 10 minutes. That may not sound like much, but as Lanzerotti noted, “I would not have wanted to be on a commercial airplane being guided in for a landing by GPS or on a ship being docked by GPS during that 10 minutes.”

Another Carrington-class flare would dwarf these events. Fortunately, says Hathaway, they appear to be rare:

“In the 160-year record of geomagnetic storms, the Carrington event is the biggest.” It’s possible to delve back even farther in time by examining arctic ice. “Energetic particles leave a record in nitrates in ice cores,” he explains. “Here again the Carrington event sticks out as the biggest in 500 years and nearly twice as big as the runner-up.”

These statistics suggest that Carrington flares are once in a half-millennium events. The statistics are far from solid, however, and Hathaway cautions that we don’t understand flares well enough to rule out a repeat in our lifetime.   And what then?

Lanzerotti points out that as electronic technologies have become more sophisticated and more embedded into everyday life, they have also become more vulnerable to solar activity. On Earth, power lines and long-distance telephone cables might be affected by auroral currents, as happened in 1989. Radar, cell phone communications, and GPS receivers could be disrupted by solar radio noise. Experts who have studied the question say there is little to be done to protect satellites from a Carrington-class flare. In fact, a recent paper estimates potential damage to the 900-plus satellites currently in orbit could cost between $30 billion and $70 billion. The best solution, they say: have a pipeline of comsats ready for launch.

Space storm alert: 90 seconds from catastrophe

It is midnight on 22 September 2012 and the skies above Manhattan are filled with a flickering curtain of colourful light. Few New Yorkers have seen the aurora this far south but their fascination is short-lived. Within a few seconds, electric bulbs dim and flicker, then become unusually bright for a fleeting moment. Then all the lights in the state go out. Within 90 seconds, the entire eastern half of the US is without power.

A year later and millions of Americans are dead and the nation’s infrastructure lies in tatters. The World Bank declares America a developing nation. Europe, Scandinavia, China and Japan are also struggling to recover from the same fateful event – a violent storm, 150 million kilometres away on the surface of the sun.

It sounds ridiculous. Surely the sun couldn’t create so profound a disaster on Earth.
Yet an extraordinary report funded by NASA and issued by the US National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in January this year claims it could do just that.

Over the last few decades, western civilizations have busily sown the seeds of their own destruction. Our modern way of life, with its reliance on technology, has unwittingly exposed us to an extraordinary danger: plasma balls spewed from the surface of the sun could wipe out our power grids, with catastrophic consequences.

The projections of just how catastrophic make chilling reading. “We’re moving closer and closer to the edge of a possible disaster,” says Daniel Baker, a space weather expert based at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and chair of the NAS committee responsible for the report.

It is hard to conceive of the sun wiping out a large amount of our hard-earned progress. Nevertheless, it is possible. The surface of the sun is a roiling mass of plasma – charged high-energy particles – some of which escape the surface and travel through space as the solar wind. From time to time, that wind carries a billion-tonne glob of plasma, a fireball known as a coronal mass ejection (see “When hell comes to Earth”). If one should hit the Earth’s magnetic shield, the result could be truly devastating.

The incursion of the plasma into our atmosphere causes rapid changes in the configuration of Earth’s magnetic field which, in turn, induce currents in the long wires of the power grids. The grids were not built to handle this sort of direct current electricity. The greatest danger is at the step-up and step-down transformers used to convert power from its transport voltage to domestically useful voltage. The increased DC current creates strong magnetic fields that saturate a transformer’s magnetic core. The result is runaway current in the transformer’s copper wiring, which rapidly heats up and melts. This is exactly what happened in the Canadian province of Quebec in March 1989, and six million people spent 9 hours without electricity. But things could get much, much worse than that.

The Solar Storm Threat to America’s Power Grid

A known and cataclysmic threat to the U.S. electric power grid is being largely ignored by the President and Congress. Warning events in 1859, 1921, 1989, and 2003 showed the danger that solar activity can pose to electrical power and distribution systems. Now as we move into another solar maximum, with increased vulnerabilities built into our electrical grid, the danger again looms large. In the worst case, there is the possibility of no electricity for 130 million Americans for a year or longer. The warnings have been issued, but have gone unheeded.

The greatest danger is to the more than 300 extra high-voltage transformers located at power substations along the routes of major transmission lines. An eruptive event on the Sun, known as a coronal mass ejection, sends a powerful flux of charged particles, protons and electrons, into the surrounding space. If the Earth is on a line with the eruption, the charged particles interact with the Earth’s radiation belts and geomagnetic field to produce currents in the ionosphere. Extraterrestrial Life

Extraterrestrial life is defined as life that does not originate from Earth. Referred to as alien life, or simply aliens, these hypothetical forms of life range from simple bacteria-like organisms to beings far more advanced than humans. The development and testing of theories about extraterrestrial life is known as exobiology or astrobiology; the term astrobiology, however, includes the study of life on Earth, viewed in its astronomical context. Many prominent scientists consider extraterrestrial life to be plausible, but no direct evidence has yet been found (unless you take seriously Ancient Astronauts theory).

In 1961, University of California, Santa Cruz astronomer and astrophysicist Dr. Frank Drake devised the Drake equation. This controversial equation multiplied estimates of the following terms together:

The rate of formation of suitable stars.
The fraction of those stars which are orbited by planets.
The number of Earth-like worlds per planetary system.
The fraction of planets where intelligent life develops.
The fraction of possible communicative planets.
The “lifetime” of possible communicative civilizations.

Drake used the equation to estimate that there are approximately 10,000 planets in the Milky Way galaxy containing intelligent life with the possible capability of communicating with Earth.
Based on observations from the Hubble Space Telescope, there are at least 125 billion galaxies in the observable Universe. It is estimated that at least ten percent of all sun-like stars have a system of planets, i.e. there are 6.25×10¹⁸ stars with planets orbiting them in the observable Universe. Even if we assume that only one out of a billion of these stars have planets supporting life, there would be some 6.25×10⁹ (billion) life-supporting planetary systems in the observable Universe.

Ancient Astronauts

Sitchin, like Velikovsky and Däniken, presents a compelling and entertaining story based on belief about ancient visitors from other worlds. Zecharia Sitchin’s key ideas are based on the assumption that ancient myths are not myths but historical and scientific texts. According to Sitchin, ancient Sumerian clay tablets reveal that gods from another planet (Nibiru, which orbits our Sun every 3,600 years) arrived on Earth some 450,000 years ago and created humans by genetic engineering of female apes.   Studying archaeological discoveries, artifacts, and recovered linguistic records, Sitchin shows that the Anunnaki (Sumerian: “those who came down from the heavens”; Old testament Hebrew, Anakeim, Nefilim, Elohim; Egyptian: Neter), an advanced civilization from the tenth planet in our solar system, splashed down in the Persian gulf area around 432,000 years ago, colonized the planet, with the purpose of obtaining large quantities of gold. Some 250,000 years ago, the recovered documents tell us, their lower echelon miners rebelled against the conditions in the mines and the Anunnaki directorate decided to create a creature to take their place (humans).

In his books,  Nigel Kerner  has made similar claim: the greatest and most significant secret in the history of the planet earth is that its premier species Homo Sapiens Sapiens is a genetically engineered off-cut of a primitive hominid that once roamed the African Savannah for millions of years. Humanity is a farmed species that was changed from this pre-existent form of ape like hominid into its present modern form by genetic engineering carried through by a technologically superior extra terrestrial alien hive of entities and not created by some anthropocentric God figure as outlined in the Bible.

On the Discovery Channel in his program ‘Universe’ broadcast earlier this year, Stephen Hawking gave his opinion that the existence of alien life is almost certain and that amongst such alien life there could be a few life forms that are intelligent and might pose a threat to humanity. “To my mathematical brain, the numbers alone make thinking about aliens perfectly rational,” he said. “The real challenge is to work out what aliens might actually be like.”  Hawking postulates that aliens might simply raid Earth for its resources and then move on: “We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet. I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonise whatever planets they can reach.” He concludes that trying to make contact with alien races is “a little too risky. If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn’t turn out very well for the Native Americans.” [ From N. 4. Apocalypse and Armageddon

An Apocalypse (Greek: “lifting of the veil” or “revelation”) is a disclosure of something hidden from the majority of mankind in an era dominated by falsehood and misconception, i.e. the veil to be lifted. The Apocalypse of John is the Book of Revelation, the last book of the New Testament. By extension, apocalypse can refer to any End Time scenario, or to the end of the world in general.

Apocalyptic visions through the writing of these scriptures is how the prophets revealed God’s justice as taking place in the future. This genre has a distinctly religious aim, intended to show God’s way of dealing with humankind, and God’s ultimate purposes. The writers present, sometimes very vividly, a picture of coming events, especially those connected with the end of the present age.

Within this apocalypse, there is described a final battle called “Armageddon” (also known as Mount of Megiddo). Megiddo in Israel was the scene of several decisive Battles in Israel’s History, so, like many other names in Revelation, it is “code” for a final Battle where sin is defeated and the devil chained for ever.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are described in the last book of the New Testament of the Bible, called the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ to Saint John the Evangelist at 6:1-8. The chapter tells of a “‘book’/’scroll’ in God’s right hand that is sealed with seven seals”.

5. Man-Made Disasters

There are many natural disaster possibilities (the most likely ones were listed above) however, in our opinion, much more likely disasters we might experience in the future will be “man-made”…

5.1 The Georgia GuideStones and New World Order

In Elbert County, Georgia (USA), there is a nearly 6m tall monument made of six astronomically aligned granite slabs; there is a capstone, one slab stands in the center, and around it stand four vertical slabs. The north/south pair of vertical granite is aligned to the poles. The central hollow of the structure is designed to be lit by light from the sun at noontime no matter the time of year. The entire monument weighs in at an appreciable 118 tons, and is fitted with a small hole that will allow one to stand at the base and observe the North Star. An additional stone tablet, which is set in the ground a short distance to the west of the structure, provides some clarifying notes on the history and purpose of the Guidestones.

The Georgia Guidestones are supposed to be a Stonehenge replica of sorts, but also a time capsule, and a Rosetta Stone to mutant societies of the far-flung future.

The Controversy

The Guidestones are of particular interest to mystery fans and conspiracy theorists. The specific world population guideline: “Maintain Humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with Nature” is interpreted by some conspiracy theorists as call for eradication of over 90% of the current world’s population ( 7 billion on Oct 31, 2011).

The next item:  “GUIDE REPRODUCTION WISELY — IMPROVING FITNESS AND DIVERSITY” sounds a little like eugenics, which still bears a vile stigma after the way the Nazis wanted to breed undesired traits from the world.

Perhaps this monument reflects plans of powers secretly manipulating world events in order to implement the “New World Order”?

New World Order

The term New World Order or NWO refers to the emergence of a totalitarian one-world government.
The common theme in conspiracy theories about a New World Order is that a secretive power elite with a globalist agenda is conspiring to eventually rule the world through an authoritarian world government—which replaces sovereign nation-states—and an all-encompassing propaganda that ideologizes its establishment as the culmination of history’s progress. Significant occurrences in politics and finance are speculated to be orchestrated by an unduly influential cabal operating through many front organizations. Numerous historical and current events are seen as steps in an on-going plot to achieve world domination through secret political gatherings and decision-making processes.

American writer Mary M. Davison, in her 1966 booklet The Profound Revolution, traced the alleged New World Order conspiracy to the creation of the U.S. Federal Reserve System in 1913 by international bankers, who she claimed later formed the Council on Foreign Relations in 1921 as the shadow government. At the time the booklet was published, “international bankers” would have been interpreted by many readers as a reference to a postulated “international Jewish banking conspiracy” masterminded by the Rothschilds.

According to Domhof, many people seem to believe that the United States is ruled from behind the scenes by a conspiratorial elite with secret desires, i.e., by a small secretive group that wants to change the government system or put the country under the control of a world government.

Although skeptical of New World Order conspiracism, political scientist David Rothkopf argues, in the 2008 book Superclass: The Global Power Elite and the World They Are Making, that the world population of 6 billion people (now 7 billion) is governed by an elite of 6,000 individuals. Until the late 20th century, governments of the great powers provided most of the superclass, accompanied by a few heads of international movements (i.e., the Pope of the Catholic Church) and entrepreneurs (Rothschilds, Rockefellers). According to Rothkopf, in the early 21st century, economic clout—fueled by the explosive expansion of international trade, travel and communication—rules; the nation-state’s power has diminished shrinking politicians to minority power broker status; leaders in international business, finance and the defense industry not only dominate the superclass, they move freely into high positions in their nations’ governments and back to private life largely beyond the notice of elected legislatures (including the U.S. Congress), which remain abysmally ignorant of affairs beyond their borders. He asserts that the superclass’ disproportionate influence over national policy is constructive but always self-interested, and that across the world, few object to corruption and oppressive governments provided they can do business in these countries.

Viewing the history of the world as the history of warfare between secret societies, conspiracy theorists go further than Rothkopf, and other scholars who have studied the global power elite, by claiming that established upper-class families with “old money” who founded and finance the Bilderberg Group, Bohemian Club, Club of Rome, Council on Foreign Relations, Rhodes Trust, Skull and Bones, Trilateral Commission, and similar think tanks and private clubs, are illuminated conspirators plotting to impose a totalitarian New World Order — the implementation of an authoritarian world government controlled by the United Nations and a global central bank, which maintains political power through the financialization of the economy, regulation and restriction of speech through the concentration of media ownership, mass surveillance, widespread use of state terrorism, and an all-encompassing propaganda that creates a cult of personality around a puppet world leader and ideologizes world government as the culmination of history’s progress.

Looking at what is going on in the world today, it is easy to conclude that the NWO conspiracy proponents might be right…

The vision of the New World Order is Hell on Earth. The elite is trying to imprison humanity in a dualistic, hierarchical, competition-based and material reality. While due to the forces of evolution, humanity is ascending toward a unified, co-creation-based immaterialistic reality where all is one, a New Atlantis. The heart attracts reality. The consciousness locks it. Any reality we can imagine is possible. We are currently physical reincarnations, while actually we are free spirited souls.

The coming battle will not be between races or religions or nations.. it will be a battle between Good and Evil, between Freemdom and Authority, between Truth and Betrayal… between the very dualistic forces of the Universe and is therefore a battle of God.

5.2 Wars and the Nuclear Catastrophes

Nuclear power could result in three kinds of catastrophe: radioactive pollution, limited nuclear bombing, and general nuclear war.

Accidental or deliberate radioactive pollution could kill tens or hundreds of thousands. 

Regional nuclear conflict in the Middle East or the Indian subcontinent could kill several million.

Nuclear terrorism against Washington D.C. or New York City could kill more than a million and set back human progress by up to a decade.

General nuclear war would kill hundreds of millions and could trigger a nuclear winter that might starve hundreds of millions more.

While such a worst case would set back human progress by one or two centuries, existing nuclear arsenals could neither extinct humanity nor end human civilization.

5.3 Pandemic/Bioterrorism

A pandemic is an epidemic of infectious disease that is spreading through human populations across a large region; for instance multiple continents, or even worldwide. A widespread endemic disease that is stable in terms of how many people are getting sick from it is not a pandemic.

How much of humanity could be killed in the future by a naturally-arising (or engineered) pathogen? In the 1500s and 1600s, European epidemics killed perhaps 90% of the aboriginal Americans. In the 1400s, the plague killed one third of the humans in Europe. The worldwide influenza of 1918 killed 30 million, and AIDS had killed at least half that by 2000. It seems unlikely that a natural pathogen could kill more than a small fraction of humanity, especially given modern sanitation. Evolutionary pressures tend to make pathogens less virulent over time, and newly-arising pathogens rarely seem to extinct their host species even in their initial outbreak. Genetically-engineered pathogens may be different.

Bio terrorism or Government-imposed “population reduction” measures could lead to creation of a pathogen designed to spread easily from person to person, persist in the environment, resist antibiotics and immune responses, and cause almost 100% mortality. Designing for long latency (e.g. months) might be necessary to ensure wide spread, but no length may be enough to infect every last human.

This trip started slowly.  It has taken us 60 years to build up speed, to get the road just right, the vehicle just right, to get the proper conditions.  The government keeps telling us that everything is going to be okay.  We are on the road to recovery, the road to greater productivity and higher employment.  Everything is going to be fine.  We just need to give it a little more gas, a little more spending, a little more debt.  The economic engine is strong and sound.   We just need to stimulate it.

The crazy thing is that practically every nation on the earth has been doing the same thing.  The people demand more.  They vote for more.  They want greater benefits, earlier retirement, more vacation, less work.  Meanwhile, the population ages and people line up to cash in on their retirement and benefits, not to mention the health care for the bodies they didn’t take the best of care.  The less fortunate of society have become used to the “safety net” – 99 weeks of unemployment, welfare, health care, food stamps and subsidies and loans for everything from housing to education.  We have become an entitled nation.  The country and t­­he greedy jerks we made rich with our labor and purchases must now pay us our fair share!

You would want to save your life and/or that of your descendants, your family or friends – the starting point makes no difference. Surviving and rebuilding, that is what it comes to.

So, let‘s make it clear: adventure movies and fairy tales do not exist in this totally destroyed “new antediluvian” world. You have probably understood this after reading my previous books, which contain the exact description of what happened the last time and what is awaiting us in 2012.

I explained abundantly clearly that life after a polar reversal is nothing but horror, pure unimaginable horror. All securities you presently have at hand, like – amongst others – food, transport, and medicines, will have disappeared in one big blow, dissolved into nothingness. As will our complete civilization. It cannot be more horrifying than this; worse than the worst nightmare. More destructive than a nuclear war in which the entire global arsenal of nuclear weapons has been deployed in one blow. Are you grasping the facts?

The earth will be subjected to total destruction. It will be many times worse than my description. Terrible hunger, cold and pain, and more will rule your daily life: without hope of a quick recovery, because all knowledge and resources will have been completely destroyed. That will be the reality of your daily life after the forthcoming polar reversal. And it is in this scenario you will have to try to survive.

Of course, at first there will be enormous panic and despair. Yet, due to our foresight, we will be able to quickly resume our highly-evolved standard of technology. We will have a small minority of well-organized people with a vision: the rebuilding of our lost civilization. Technicians, scientists, mathematicians, doctors and many more will try to save as much as possible. Even if we do not succeed in motivating all of these people, a tiny group with sufficient knowledge and perseverance will be able to create a climate of resurrection; something to benefit our future generations. Just as we built up our civilization based on the knowledge we inherited from the Old Egyptians, our children will pass on their inherited knowledge to their descendants. And they will do the same to theirs, and so on. Within thousands of years, a new – and hopefully more peaceful, less polluted civilization – will inhabit the earth, after which the cycle of destruction and resurrection will start again. But that is another story…
